About Piltoe
Small tools for everyday problems.
Piltoe is a growing collection of simple online tools. They help you finish small jobs without installing software, building a complicated workflow, or paying for another subscription.
Why Piltoe exists
One small job. Then you’re done.
The internet is full of moments where you only need to do one thing: convert a value, clean up some text, check a number, generate a bit of output. The “solution” is often buried in heavy software, a cluttered page, or a product that wants an account for a task you may never repeat.
Piltoe exists to make those small jobs easier. Open a page. Do the work. Leave with the result.
Our philosophy
One job. Done well.
A tool should help you finish the task, not make the task itself complicated. Keep the interface focused. Skip extra steps. Make the result obvious.
Simple problems deserve simple pages.
The model
Keep it free.
We want useful tools to remain accessible.
Piltoe’s tools are free to use. The site is supported primarily through advertising, which helps pay for hosting, development, maintenance, and new tools.
Use what you need. The work is the point.
What we’re building
A collection that grows.
Piltoe is built over time, one useful tool at a time. Categories appear as real tools ship — not as a list of empty promises.
How we think about tools
Five principles.
01
Useful
Build something because it solves a real problem.
02
Simple
You shouldn’t need a manual for a basic utility.
03
Fast
The tool should get out of the way.
04
Accessible
Useful tools should be available to as many people as possible.
05
Honest
Be clear about what a tool does and how it handles data.
How processing should work
Prefer the browser when we can.
When a tool can do its job in your browser, that’s our preferred approach. Running on your device can mean the work never has to leave your computer.
That is a design principle, not a blanket promise. Each tool will say, on its own page, whether it stays local or needs a server.
