This policy explains what information is involved when you use Piltoe, a free website of online tools at https://piltoe.com. It is written to match how the site works today, and to leave room for advertising such as Google AdSense if we add it later.
Who we are
Piltoe is an independent website that publishes simple online tools. There is no user account system. You can use the tools without creating a login.

How Piltoe tools work
Most Piltoe tools are built to run in your browser. For example, the Paint Calculator does its maths on your device. The measurements you type are not sent to Piltoe so that we can store them.
That is how the published tools work today. It is not a promise that every future tool will stay fully local. If a tool needs to send text, a file, or other input to a server, that tool’s page will say so next to the action.
Information we collect
Piltoe does not currently ask you to create an account, fill in a contact form, or upload files to our servers in order to use the tools that are live.
Information collected automatically
The website is hosted by a third-party hosting provider. Like most websites, the host may keep standard technical logs when your browser requests a page. Those logs can include:
- your IP address
- the date and time of the request
- the page or file requested
- browser and device information, such as user-agent
- referrer information, if your browser sends it
We do not use those logs to build a marketing profile of you. We may look at aggregated or individual logs if we need to keep the site running, fix a problem, or respond to abuse.
Your browser also sends ordinary request headers (for example, language preferences) so that the page can be delivered. We do not currently run a first-party analytics product that identifies you across visits.
Information you provide voluntarily
If you email us, we receive whatever you choose to include: your email address, the message, and any files or details you attach. We use that to reply and to improve the site where it is relevant.
Values you type into a tool stay in the browser session unless that tool’s page states otherwise. Piltoe does not currently save tool inputs in a Piltoe account, because there are no accounts.
How we use information
We use information for purposes such as:
- operating and serving the website
- understanding whether the site is working and fixing faults
- replying to messages you send
- protecting the site against spam, fraud, and abuse
- supporting the site in the future, including advertising, as described in this policy
We do not sell your personal information.
Analytics
Piltoe does not currently run a separate analytics service (for example Google Analytics) on the site.
If we add analytics later, we will describe the provider here, what it collects, and how you can opt out where that is offered.
Advertising
Piltoe is intended to stay free to use, and may be supported by advertising. Ads are not on the pages today. We have not added Google AdSense code, or any other ad network, to the site at the time this policy was last updated.
Piltoe may use advertising services such as Google AdSense in the future. If we do, this section will be updated to say that advertising is active, which partners are used, and how their technologies work on Piltoe.
When advertising is enabled, it is likely that:
- third-party advertising partners will collect or receive technical information such as IP address, cookie identifiers, and browser or device data
- those partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, measure whether ads were shown, and — where allowed — personalise ads
- Google, if used, may use advertising cookies as described in Google’s own policies

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, personalised advertising and non-essential cookies typically require an appropriate consent mechanism. Piltoe does not currently show a cookie or consent banner, because those advertising products are not live. If we enable them, we will put in place the consent and disclosure steps that apply to those regions, and this policy will be updated.
Managing advertising preferences
Until advertising is on Piltoe, there are no Piltoe advertising cookies to manage on this site. You can still use your browser settings to block or delete cookies generally. Blocking cookies may affect how some websites work.
If Google advertising is added later, you will typically be able to:

Those tools are operated by third parties. They may not stop all ads; they may stop or limit certain kinds of personalised advertising.
Data retention
Hosting logs are kept according to the host’s systems and any legal need to investigate abuse. We do not currently operate a Piltoe user database of tool history.
Emails you send are kept for as long as we need them to reply, keep a record of the request, or meet a legal obligation, and are then deleted or archived in the ordinary course of running the site.
Data security
We take reasonable steps to keep the website and any messages we receive in a sensible state of security. No website can promise that transmission over the internet is completely risk-free.
Because most tools run in your browser, the numbers you type for a calculation are not stored by Piltoe as an account record.
Third-party links
Piltoe may link to other websites, including tool documentation, manufacturer guidance, or privacy pages such as Google’s. Those sites have their own policies. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
Children’s privacy
Piltoe is a general-audience website. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it where we can.
International visitors
Piltoe is available from many countries. Hosting, email, and any future advertising or analytics providers may process information in countries other than the one you are in. Those countries may have different data-protection laws.
If you visit from the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, additional rules can apply to cookies, advertising, and transfers once those features are in use. SeeAdvertising.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask what personal information we hold about you, to ask for a copy, to ask us to correct it, or to ask us to delete it. You may also have rights to object to or restrict certain processing, or to complain to a data-protection authority.
For Piltoe today, the personal information we are likely to hold is mainly what you put in an email, plus any technical logs our host retains. To make a request, write to achutradd@gmail.com and tell us what you need. We may need to confirm that the request comes from the right person.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the site changes — for example if we enable Google AdSense, add analytics, or launch a tool that uses a server. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. The current version will always be athttps://piltoe.com/privacy/.
